A fantastic opportunity is available at Easter for those who want to experience history live: BKV and the Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK) introduce heritage tramway services this weekend. Turn back time by riding the hundred-year-old tramcars along the most beautiful sights of the Hungarian capital, feel the original atmosphere of the late 19th century Budapest. There is an outstanding view from the route on the sights like the Buda Castle, the Hungarian Parliament and the Chain Bridge (Lánchíd). On the 7th and on the 8th of April (this Saturday and Sunday) vintage trams depart hourly from Boráros tér terminus from 10:00 to 15:00 and from Széll Kálmán tér from 10:30 to 15:30 every hour.
On Easter Monday, the 9th of April, Budapest invites children to meet the Easter Bunny who rides a heritage tram from Széll Kálmán tér to Hűvösvölgy and back. The old vehicle leaves Széll Kálmán tér from 10:01 to 15:01 and from Hűvösvölgy from 10:23 to 3:23 every hour. Children can pet rabbits at the terminus, located at the edge of the Buda forest which is ideal for family excursions as well.
Fares: a singe ride costs 400 Ft, children under the age of 6 travel free of charge. Tickets are available on the spot.
