Metro lines M2 and M4 to run according to extended schedule on Friday and Saturday nights

In line with changed night-time travel demand of the past few years in the capital, trains on metro lines M2 and M4 will be operating one hour longer on Friday and Saturday nights than currently, until half past one in the morning. BKK also provides all other night transport services, buses and tram line 6, as usual.

Nightlife in Budapest has become ever more vibrant and an increasing number of tourists visit the Hungarian capital, therefore more and more passengers use night public transport services. Experience shows that travel demand is especially high on Friday and Saturday nights when many are on the go in the city centre past midnight as well. BKK Centre for Budapest Transport is improving the travel options on those busy evenings starting from Friday, 1 December 2017, by extending the operation of metro lines M2 and M4 on Fridays and Saturdays with one hour: the last trains will depart stations in the city centre at around half past one in the morning to Déli pályaudvar and Örs vezér tere terminuses on line M2, and to Keleti pályaudvar and Kelenföld, vasútállomás stations on line M4.

Service frequency on both metro lines will be 10 minutes. The extension of the operating hours of the metro is an addition to the service of night buses and tramline 6 on the Grand Boulevard, which has been a popular round-the-clock operation since May 2011.
